Briar Crest Elementary School, home of the Super
Stars, is located in the northwestern part of St. Louis County. The attendance
area comprises the communities of St. Ann and unincorporated St. Louis County.
The school is made up of approximately 260 students in kindergarten through
fifth grade and also houses a Headstart Program. The school offers an enriched academic program which incorporates
the use of technology and after school enrichment and tutoring. The
school has an average class ratio of 18 students to 1 teacher. Full time kindergarten
is free to all. After school childcare is offered through the YMCA Latchkey Program. Briar Crest has
an active School Improvement Team made up of parents and teachers which help
establish goals and direction for the school. Briar Crest PTA is also very
active, sponsoring numerous programs such as movie nights and parent ralley, picnics,
Grandparent's Day, chili suppers, scholarships, and much more. The PBS- Positive Behavior Support
student management program is successfully implemented school wide.

There is always a concern
when a child is absent. We request that parents notify our Hotline by 9:30
a.m. This service allows parents to record any and all messages regarding
student absences. If the absence is due to a communicable disease, it is important
that you report this to the office or the nurse. A note of explanation of
the absence should be sent by parents when your child returns to school. When
you reach the attendance hotline, please leave the information listed below:
1. Student's Name
2. Teacher's Name
3. Your name and daytime telephone number
4. Brief description of illness
Emergency School Closings
Classes in the district are canceled only in case of emergency or extremely bad weather. Any decision to close schools in extremely bad weather will be announced to families via the district's automated phone calling system. For this reason, it is important that families provide their most current phone numbers to their children's schools. If the weather is inclement and families have not received a call, please listen to or watch one of the following news stations as a back-up:
